PROMARINHA would like to announce that will organize a Training Seminar for Fisheries Observers on April 21st, 2023, between 9.00 and 18.00 in the auditorium of the Escola Nautica Infante D. Henrique in Paço D’Arcos.
This seminar aims to provide future Fisheries Observers with the necessary information for future boarding on fishing vessels.
In addition to the host, Escola Náutica D. Henrique, we will have guest speakers from Portugal and Spain.
Preferred Selection Criteria:
-
Degree, or higher degree, in Marine Biology or degrees linked to the blue economy;
-
Previous experience in a Fisheries Observer role
-
English, Spanish language;
-
IT skills;
-
Sea going experience (prior experience on board vessels is valued);

Interpretation and reporting skills;
-
Flexibility and availability to be able to travel to countries around the world in 2023;
At a later time, before signing in to a vessel, candidates must also hold:

Physical fitness certificate for seafarers;

Basic security certificate;
-
Certificate of specific ship protection duties;

Passport

Citizen Card
-
Maritime discharge book (recommended)

Vaccination certificate (recommended)

Promarinha informs that its training action for Scientific Observers on commercial fishing vessels for 2022 will take place on march 16th 2022 at the Infante D. Henrique Nautical School in Paço D'Arcos in person and complying with all health protective measures in place. We will provide more details at a later time. The Emergency Committee of the International Health Regulations decreed a Public International Health Emergency. According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the potential impact of outbreaks by COVID-19 is high, and the global spread of the virus is likely.
Thus, taking into account the recommendations of the DGS and the Government of the Portuguese Republic, Promarinha decided to suspend its service to the public in its office located at Praça Europa, no. 2, 1249-289 Lisbon as a preventive measure to combat Covid- 19.
The service is now made exclusively by alternative means, not in person. For this purpose, the email and telephone contacts on our website should be used.

FISHING OBSERVERS SEMINAR
PROMARINHA is a Portuguese certified company, based in Lisbon, which recruits and manages Observers on Spanish and Portuguese fishing vessels operating globally.
PROMARINHA will hold a training course for Observers in Nautical College Infante D. Henrique in Paço D’Arcos on the 10-11th March 2020.
The seminar will have guests from the nautical school, association of shipowners from Galiza, Portuguese maritime authority among others
This training, held in Portuguese, will be mandatory for those who intend to embark in fishing vessels. Applications are limited.

Today was published in the Diário da República, 1st series, the long awaited Decree-Law No. 166/2019 that establishes the Maritime Activity Legal Regime (MAR). It is an important decree-law which lays down in particular the rules on maritime registration, medical fitness, training, certification, recruitment and register of vessels and other matters important for the maritime labor activity.

On the past May 3st 2019, Promarinha celebrated its 50th anniversary by bringing together its collaborators, major suppliers, national and foreign clients and public entities in an event that took place at the Clube Naval de Cascais.
It was an excellent opportunity to remember the birth, growth and development of our company having the magnificent bay of Cascais as a backdrop.
We had the opportunity to honor the employees, managers and shareholders who worked with us throughout a career and left a magnificent legacy to new employees and newly elected administration.
The current Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Cardoso Martins, in addition to the natural compliments to all present, recalled the late directors and shareholders Alcindo Valadinhas and Carlos Marques dos Santos, as well as the invaluable contribution over the years of a career of more than 35 years the services of Promarinha, Mr. José Viegas and Cpt. Carlos Oliveira, the latter recently retired from active life.
He also underscored the importance of the company's role in the recent history of the Merchant Marine, giving Promarinha a decisive role in the dignification and dissemination of our Sea Man.
Among the honorees, Mr. José Viegas, recalled Promarinha's path, not always easy, from its foundation to the present day.

On March 15, 2019, a renovated board of directors was elected.
Promarinha's current Managing Director, also the company's largest shareholder, played a relevant role in the public and private sectors within the maritime industry, being accompanied in the board by Capt. José Senos and Mr. Pedro Martins, both with an extensive experience in the industry.
In this period of renovation, Promarinha wishes to publicly thank the dedication of more than 30 years of the former Directors Capt. Carlos Oliveira and Mr. Jose Manuel Santos Viegas to whom we wish good health and prosperity in the company of their families in this well-deserved stage.
In its 50th year, Promarinha will maintain the rigor and seriousness that defined its implementation and success within the industry, and gradually explore potential business opportunities in the most diverse sectors of maritime activity.
Finally we would like to thank all present and past employees, customers and suppliers who have allowed us to celebrate this beautiful anniversary, and we hope to continue to take this ship to safe harbor for many years to come.

PROMARINHA is a Portuguese certified company, based in Lisbon, which has been recruiting and managing Observers on Spanish and Portuguese fishing vessels operating globally for 4 over years.
We are looking for candidates (M / F) who are available and interested in embarking on commercial fishing vessels during the year 2019.
Preferential Criteria for Selection of Observers
• Degree, or higher degree, in Marine Biology or related areas;
• Certificate of physical fitness at sea;
• STCW - Basic Security Certificate;
• Passport;
• Knowledge of the English language;
• Knowledge of computer science in the user's perspective namely Excel;
It will also be an asset for the PROMARINHA candidates who have:
• Sea experience, with preference for boarding vessels related with fishing;
• Competence in the interpretation of legislation and specific regulations and reporting;
• Flexibility and availability to travel to countries around the world;
The PROMARINHA will hold a free training course for Observers in Lisbon on the 12-13th February 2019
This training will be compulsory for those who intend to embark. Applications are limited.
The language used will be Portuguese.
